The International Forum in Kirov: Inclusive Education in Higher Education Institutions
The representatives of Russian HEIs, teachers, experts in the field of higher education, employers and members of non-governmental organizations of people with disabilities (over 200 people) will meet on October 31-November 01, 2018 in Kirov, at the forum dedicated to the problems of higher education of people with disabilities and people with limited health capacities. The media partners of the Forum are Accreditation in Education Company and Higher Education Discovery.
The Forum ‘The creation of a supporting system for the higher education educational institutions activities in the implementation and development of inclusive education’ was organized with support from the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in order to generalize the best practices to make higher education accessible for people with disabilities.
The two-day business program of the Forum consists of discussion platforms, round tables and workshop where the participants can share their experience in the field of inclusive education, discuss the important issues of accessibility of higher education for people with disabilities and will participate in the development of new projects.
It should also be noted that foreign colleagues from Ireland, France, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus will also share their inclusive education practices.
At the discussion platforms the participants will talk about the aspects of education of people with disabilities, from career guidance work with school leavers to the peculiarities of teaching students with limited health capacities and their socio-psychological support.
Employment and post-degree support of graduates with disabilities will be a separate topic for discussion between HEIs' representatives and employers invited to the Forum. The speakers will present their reports about the most effective and up-to-date approaches to solve the problems of employment of young disabled people including university graduates.
At the discussion platform 'Accessible environment of the higher education organizations: experience of creation and development' the participants will discuss the content, design features of the accessible environment at the university; the needs and conflict of interests of students with various disabilities.
On the second day of the Forum the participants will join the workshops where they will try to develop and present possible models of increasing the accessibility of higher education for people with disabilities. It should be separately noted that the representatives of regional authorities will be involved.
A special round table will be dedicated to social entrepreneurship. This type of business will be considered as a tool to ensure accessibility of higher education for people with disabilities and a form of employment of students with limited health capacities.
The other forum platform will be focused on an accessible environment, scientific research and innovations for the development of this environment. Here the participants will discuss HEIs' possibilities to develop modern technical means for the rehabilitation of disabled people, as well as urbanistics and the architecture of an accessible urban environment.
