The university courses are organized in eight faculties: Economics; Metallurgy and Materials Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Computer Science; Mining and Geology; Civil Engineering; Safety Engineering; Mechanical Engineering.
The research focuses on raw materials, energy and environmental sciences, computer sciences and information technologies, new materials, structures and technologies, modern engineering, safety technologies, modeling of economic and financial processes - especially research and development intensity and intellectual property protection.
Partnerships across sectors and fields are one of the key activities of Technical University of Ostrava. It develops and sustain long term relationships with a wide range of domestic and foreign companies of public, private and non-profit sectors, foundations, high and grammar schools; it is an active member of many Czech and international organizations, including cluster associations.
