Programme presentation. The study process is oriented to implementing contemporary diagnostic, developmental and information technologies in solving professional tasks of all levels and activity fields. The best sites for work experience, the highest level of teachers’ professionalism and module construction of study programmes facilitate solving professional tasks. Study programmes provide students with the possibility of choosing classes according to their professional demands or prospects of their future activity. 10 foreign students study the Programme.

In order to improve students’ research competencies the University in cooperation with Moscow Institute of Psychology of the RussianAcademy of Education, Laboratory of Talent and Creativity (scientific advisor – Honoured Academician of the Russian Academy of Education Dr. D.Bogoyavlenskaya) has founded research laboratory of psychological and pedagogical problems of developing creative skills. The University is planning to widen the Programme’s modules in the framework of international cooperation with the universities of China. The Department maintains research and academic cooperation with HEIs of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm and other cities for the purpose of conducting lectures and master-classes.

Teaching staff. The Department’s teaching staff includes Doctors of Sciences and PhDs. The teachers participate in the annual professional advancement programmes. There is ane-learning network.

Competitiveness of students. Students participate in national and regional competitions, conferences, Olympiads. In 2009-2014 they won the regional students’ Olympiad in Psychology.

Interaction with employers. Over 50% of graduation theses are developed by orders and in cooperation with partner-organizations. The major employers are educational institutions of Nizhny Novgorod region (schools and pre-school institutions), state and private companies, HEIs.

Many graduates work in leading Russian HEIs: Moscow City University of Psychology and Pedagogics, Higher School of Economics, St.Petersburg State University of Economics and various HEIs of Nizhny Novgorod region. Graduates of the University founded development centres for children “Razvitie”, “Rostok”, “Morther’s Happiness”, “Solnechny Krug”, school of psychological support for women “Milamar”.
