Programme presentation. Nowadays the profession of a journalist is one of the most demanded. This is largely due to the rapid development of the media sphere and web-technologies. The profession of a journalist is not only prestigious and highly paid, but also extremely exciting. To be a journalist means to be always aware of breaking news, to meet outstanding and interesting people every day and, what is most important, to influence the events of the region (and in the long run – beyond it) through active involvement in the formation of public opinion.

The Department actively cooperates with educational institutions with a view of establishing a single education area. Among the achievements of the staff there are victories in contests of grants of the Russian Scientific Foundation for the Humanities, the Governor of the District as well as in international contests of psychological and pedagogical projects for the adaptation of migrants in Russia.

The educational process is provided with the necessary material and technical facilities: classrooms are equipped with TV and video tools, multimedia projectors; Internet-access is available.

Teaching staff. Degree-granting department has 2 Doctors and 11 Candidates of Sciences. Among them there are holders of the title “Honoured worker of education of Yugra”, an Acting Member of the RussianAcademy of Natural Sciences and the InternationalPedagogicalAcademy.

Competitiveness of students. For many years, the University has published a corporate edition “NashaGazeta”, and students take an active part in the process of its creation. Graduates in the given area are prepared for work in newspapers, journals, information agencies, on TV and radio, in network and Internet mass media, information and advertising, press and PR offices.

Interaction with employers. Degree-granting department cooperates with the leading advertising and PR agencies, city and regional mass media. Students are placed for work experience in printed mass media, at radio stations and TV companies of Nizhnevartovsk and the region. Within cooperation with law enforcement officers the teachers carry out forensic examination of written and oral texts.
