Programme presentation. Training specialists in the framework of the programme “History” has been carried out at the Faculty since 1954. In 2008, the Faculty offered the

Bachelor’s programme in “History”. Graduates may continue education in the Master’s programmes: “Archaeology” (Eurasia), “National History” (History of Siberia the 16th and 17th centuries), “Modern and Contemporary Political and Cultural History of Europe”, “Documentation Procedures in State and Commercial Organizations” and then in the

Postgraduate programme in “Historical Studies and Archaeology” with the thesis defence in candidacy for a degree in history.

Training is carried out with the use of multimedia classrooms which allow introducing modern educational technologies.

Teaching staff. In general, all teachers have degrees of a Doctor and a Candidate of Sciences, a corresponding scientific specialization in the sphere of history and professional contacts with foreign partners. The Faculty established contacts with the leading Russian academic centres (the IGH RAS, the Institute of Archaeology of RAS) and foreign HEIs (the Czech Republic, Germany, Denmark, Mongolia). There are recognized research schools in archaeology, national history and the history of European countries, specialized research centres: the West Siberian Centre for German Studies, the Centre for European Studies. The Faculty is a consortium member of the EU Centre in Siberia and a participant of the international programme Tempus.

Competitiveness of students. The average grade of students enrolled in “History” ac-cording to the USE results is 230. Students place high in all-Russian Olympiads in History. The Faculty arranges annual April Research Student Conference and develops international student mobility.

Interaction with employers. The fundamental education in “History” allows graduates to fulfil their potential in the sphere of science, education, policy, business, culture and art, to teach in secondary and higher educational institutions and to work in state and commercial organizations and law enforcement bodies. Graduates of the Faculty succeed in social, political and economic life of Kuzbas. The Faculty maintains close cooperation with the Institute of Human Ecology of the Siberian Branch of RAS as well as with archive, museum and cultural institutions of Kuzbas.
