Finding Balance between New and Familiar Goals to Become the Best University

October 23–25, 2018, Moscow

IX International Higher Education Conference “Universities in search of a balance between new and familiar goals” will be organized by the Russian Educational Research Association (RERA) on October 23–25, 2018, Moscow. The media partners of the conference are Accreditation in Education Company and Higher Education Discovery.

The RERA Conference, with over 300 participants from more than 15 countries annually, has been hosted by the HSE University Moscow since 2010.

In a rapidly changing world, the modern university is expected to timely and flexibly respond to various socioeconomic transformations around in order to sustain and reinforce its role as a pivotal linchpin of lives better lived, social cohesion and economic growth. That said, universities have in practice not always been able to promptly and adequately meet the multiple requirements of their stakeholders (students, faculty, markets, government, and society), as they have often failed to react to global trends and have faltered in the ever-accelerating competition with other players in the educational market. It is, therefore, time for universities to largely rethink their goals as well as strategies and means for getting these new imperatives best accomplished.

Over the years, the Conference has become an important venue for academics, institutional leaders and practitioners to share diverse perspectives and gain deeper insights about what makes university systems tick, which strategies modern universities should best opt for to spark relevant and sustainable social contributions going forward, and how all of these processes and mechanisms – both individually and as a whole – relate to fundamental socioeconomic factors and development drivers within broader settings. The conference is an important event for higher education scholars of all relevant backgrounds, in various specialist areas and at different levels.

By hosting a multidisciplinary mix of plenary discussions and special sessions, the RERA Conference affords its participants abundant opportunities for networking and debate.

The 2018 RERA Conference will center its discussions on the following key topics:

- Internationalization of Higher Education

- School, University, Labor market: Bridging the Gaps
