Programme presentation. The study programme at the GITIS Faculty of Producing includes humanitarian, socio- economic, art and special disciplines related to performing art (organization of theatrical business, planning and staging plays of different genres, implementing new theatrical and concert projects), producing, management and economics of theatre and performing arts.

Teaching staff. The Department of Performing Arts Management and Producing at GITIS is the first department of this kind in the country that has been training specialists since 1978. It is a reputable research and practice centre that carries out continuous research into the field of organizing, economy and sociology of performing arts. The teachers success-fully combine teaching, research and practical activities. They are in demand as professionals and experts both in Russia and abroad. The current staff of the Department is unique: they are bright personalities, researchers, reputable practitioners, true professionals in the field of economy of theatrical and concert business, producers of performing arts. Most of them are graduates of the Department.

Competitiveness of students. In order to successfully integrate into the profession, the students gain experience in the best theatres, concert organizations, producer companies and in theatrical festivals held in Moscow and other cities of Russia. Theoretical training is closely connected with performing art practice, possibilities of developing individual theatrical projects when still at the University. This experience helps students respond to challenges of the changing world and by graduation the students may have ready-to-implement projects.

Interaction with employers. Due to extensive practical experience and close cooperation with other GITIS faculties the students of the Faculty get competitive advantage for their employment. Graduates of the Department are successfully employed in theatrical, concert and circus business in Russia and abroad. Many have become heads ofleading organizations in the sphere of culture in Russia and other countries. The alumni of the Faculty are also employed in governmental structures, Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, municipal culture governing bodies, Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation.
