Programme presentation. The Institute of Graphic Design carries out training in four profiles: “Advertising Design”, “Graphic Design in Art Space”, “Graphic Design inˇMultimedia”, “Animation and Graphics of PC Games”.
The educational process is provided with modern material and technical facilities. There are computer classrooms, video and film studio with Chroma key and filming equipment, printing graphics workshop with an etching machine and printing press, painting and drawing class rooms equipped with easels, gypsoplasts and property.
Teaching staff. The teaching staff consists of highly qualified specialists with extensive experience in practical, creative and pedagogical work. Most of them have academic degrees and titles and are members of creative unions (the Union of Artists of Russia, the Union of Designers of Russia) and prize winners of prestigious contests and festivals.
Works of the teachers are placed in the collections of leading Russian and foreign muse-ums, galleries and culture centres – the Russian Museum, Konstantin Palace, the Museum of the History of Russia, BlauesHaus Gallery (Germany), Hotel Resort Mark Brandenburg (Germany), as well as in private collections in France, Spain, Germany, USA and Israel. Teachers regularly exchange their experience with foreign colleagues at master-classes in Kymenklaakso University (Kotka, Finland) and during internships at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Bolzano, Italy) and Henan University (Zhengzhou, China).
Competitiveness of students. Students undergo internships and get work experience within cooperation agreements with Berlin University of Arts, John Leggot College (Great Britain), Estonian Academy of Arts, the University of Lapland (Finland) and others. Many students are awarded personal grants of the President of Russian Federation and Government, St.Petersburg Government, A. Kosygin grant, etc.
Interaction with employers. The Institute actively cooperates with the administrations of St. Petersburg districts, cultural and public organizations and institutions on students’ placement for work experience and internships and delivery of creative projects. Partner organizations include specialized governmental committees, the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, the Russian Museum, the Alexadnrinsky Theatre, St. Petersburg Union of Designers, F. Dostoevsky Museum.
